Throughput Limit for Outbound Long Code SMS

Here, you will learn about the restrictions for sending via long-code SMS.

List of Restrictions for Sending Long Code SMS

Level 1 verified users are limited to 600 total messages per minute across their account. Additionally, they can send a maximum of 6 messages per minute from any type of number or sender ID.

For Level 2 verified customers, higher limits are available for various number types, as detailed below.

US long code numbers are limited to sending 2 messages per minute per long code for unregistered traffic. If faster throughput is needed for A2P messages, registration for 10DLC messaging is required.

Toll-free numbers have a limit of 1,200 messages per minute per number. However, throughput may vary based on the number’s verification status.
