Phonexa’s Chief Financial Officer Mara Garcia has been named a Top 100 Accountant honoree by the Los Angeles Business Journal.
The recognition was announced on November 8 during the LABJ’s second annual Top 100 Accountants event at the InterContinental Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. The event honored the top accounting professionals across Southern California for their ongoing efforts as outstanding financial stewards.
“I’m incredibly honored to be recognized by the LABJ with this prestigious recognition,” said Mara. “The award inspires me to continue pushing boundaries and setting new standards personally and professionally, and it also inspires me to help my team and younger professionals feel empowered.”
This award continues an impressive streak of accomplishments for Mara.
Earlier this year, Mara was announced as a nominee for the Los Angeles Times’ CFO Leadership Award and was named a finalist for the CFO Leadership Award by the LABJ.
The San Fernando Valley Business Journal recognized her as an honoree for its 2022 CFO to Watch award. Mara was also nominated for the CFO of the Year award by the LABJ and the Inspirational Women Leadership award by the Los Angeles Times.
Mara – a member of the Forbes Finance Council – is Phonexa’s second winner of the LABJ’s Top 100 Accountant Award, joining Lilit Davtyan, Phonexa’s previous CFO and current CEO.
Garcia joined Phonexa in 2020 as the VP of Finance and Accounting and oversaw many of Phonexa’s financial practices and procedures including but not limited to supervision of internal and external expenses, budgeting, audit management, and tax preparation. She took on the CFO role in January 2022.
As Phonexa’s CFO, Mara oversees the company’s tax, accounting, and finance teams, spearheading financial growth and driving expansion efforts for the all-in-one performance marketing automation solution.
Mara is a Certified Public Accountant who obtained her B.S. from California State University, Northridge, and her CPA license from the California Board of Accountancy. She also served as Vice President on the Board of Directors for CalCPA’s LA Chapter.
She now sits on the board of the CSUN Nazarian College Alumni Chapter.
