STIR and SHAKEN protocols work in tandem to verify the caller`s identity with a digital certificate. In this framework, secure telephony identity (STI) governance authorities issue dedicated telephone numbers to businesses. Private keys associated with each digital certificate are then used to sign a VoIP call, which essentially indicates the legitimacy of the calling party.
