Phonexa hosted a fundraiser to support the Armenia Women’s National Basketball Team on May 16 at its Glendale headquarters ahead of the team’s 2024 FIBA European Championship for Small Countries tournament in June against Norway, Albania, and Andorra.
The meet-and-greet event also featured local leaders like Glendale Mayor Elen Asatryan, who presented the team with a Mayor’s condemnation. Milwaukee Bucks assistant coach and Armenia Men’s National Basketball Team head coach Rex Kalamian also attended to show his support.
Phonexa CEO Lilit Davtyan, Phonexa Chief Creative Officer Armen Karaoghlanian, and Armenia Women’s National Basketball Team head coach Tadeh Mardirosian shared remarks during the event.

“Armenia Women’s Basketball is back for the first time since 2010 when we hosted the FIBA European Small Countries Tournament in Yerevan and won silver,” said Mardirosian. “We’re looking forward to growing the program and are ready to take on new challenges with old and new supporters. Working collaboratively with the Armenian Basketball Federation, we aim to build a foundation of successful women’s basketball players to represent our beautiful country of Armenia to the world.”
Phonexa hosted the fundraiser as part of the company’s community outreach initiative program, Phonexa Cares.
“It’s not just about basketball. It’s about empowering women to lead across cross-sections of our community,” said Davtyan. “We were thrilled to host this important event as part of our Phonexa Cares initiative, where we’re committed to giving back to our community and supporting causes that matter. Phonexa supported the Armenia Men’s National Basketball Team last year, and we are equally proud to support the up-and-coming women’s squad as well. We can’t wait to see them succeed as a team.”
All proceeds from the event went to the Friends of Armenia’s Women’s Basketball Foundation, a registered nonprofit organization with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status dedicated to growing all aspects of basketball and helping grow, develop, and support women’s sports in Armenia.
